 On Friday, June 15, you can take your place on the Metro stage, even if you don't play an instrument!
Since its debut in 2003, the US Air Guitar Championships have grown from two competitions into a major national tour that reaches more cities, fans and competitors every year.
In 2007 the US Air Guitar Championships Chicago Regional will take play Friday June 15 at Metro.The regional winners will compete in the U.S. Nationals in August for the chance to represent America at the World Championships in Finland this September.

Joining us this morning is Justin "Nordic Thunder" Howard, 2006 Air Guitar Champion. Last year "Nordic Thunder" rockeedt to the top and rocked his way to New York City to represent Chicago in the National Air Guitar Championship. This year on June 15th at the Metro in Chicago he will be defending his title. |

From Brokeback to bad ass?
Heath Ledger will be playing the part of the Joker in the Christopher Nolan's new Batman flick "The Dark Knight", the anticipated sequel to Batman Begins.
In the Dark Knight, the premise is that Batman (Christian Bale) and Lt. Gordan (Gary Oldman) work together to bring all the inmates and Crane (Cillian Murphy) back to justice. They soon find alliance with the new DA official, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) who's Rachel Dawes' new partner. Out of all the escaped inmates, only one hasn't been captured. His name is Jack Napier (Heath Ledger), but refers to himself as the Joker. He becomes obsessed with Batman and uses his sick, twisted sense of humor to lure Batman out into the open by killing

Thirteen-year-old Morgan Pozgar, of Claysburg, Pennsylvania, was crowned LG National Texting champion on Saturday after she typed "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" from "Mary Poppins" in 15 seconds.
"I'm going to go shopping and buy lots of clothes," the teen said after winning her $25,000 prize from the electronics company LG.
Morgan defeated nearly 200 other competitors at the Roseland Ballroom in Manhattan to become East Coast champion and then beat West Coast champion Eli Tirosh, 21, of Los Angeles, California.
She estimated that she sends more than 8,000 text messages a month to her friends and family.

The idea of creating a balloon symbolizing the SW saga has been on my mind for a long time. But I was too shy to ask George Lucas (Lucasfilm) permission to do it.
Then I met with FanWars in 2005. They wanted me to make a Death Star - shaped PVC helium balloon. While discussing with FanWars leader Nicolas Lelong aka TK-9999, I spoke of my idea of a Darth Vader - shaped hot air balloon. For me, it was more of a joke and a fantasy, but Nicolas took it seriously and found the idea wonderful. He took contact with LucasFilm in order to try to get their agreement.
TK-9999 spoke of the project with Steve Sansweet (LucasFilm)...and LFL gave us the green light for a Darth Vador's helmet shaped balloon a few weeks later.
