Prison Break  E-mail

ImageBRUSSELS, Belgium - Two men hijacked a helicopter Sunday and forced the pilot to land in a prison courtyard, where they picked up an inmate in a dramatic jailbreak, the pilot told Belgian television.

The accomplices paid for a helicopter ride at an airstrip near the city of Sint-Truiden, about 40 miles east of Brussels, saying they were tourists from Marseilles in southern France, pilot Eric Mathieu told the RTL-TVI network.

After takeoff, they produced a pistol and hand-grenade, ordering Mathieu to fly to Lantin prison outside nearby Liege.

"They pointed a revolver at my forehead," Mathieu told RTBF television. "The prison yard was so small, at first I refused to land there, but they threatened to kill me, so I had to do it."

New Port Richey, Florida - "9-1-1 what is your emergency?”

The caller on the line says, “My girlfriend... I don't know, she's choking!”

911 operator Jenny Montanino received that call March 24th saying that Nancy McGhee was choking to death inside a Land O'Lakes home.

The operator asks the caller if he can do the Heimlich Maneuver, but he misunderstands and asks if she means to get behind her.

As part of the investigation into the incident by the Pasco Fire Department, Montanino says she asked for assistance for what's called "emergency medical dispatch," because she is not yet certified to do this.

But her supervisor Dave Cook, who in the past has been disciplined for sleeping on duty, said "I am not getting on with a hysterical caller."

Around 3 a.m., Simpsonville dispatchers saw the armed man in the police station patrol car parking lot over the department's video surveillance system and alerted officers, Bobo said.

When officers arrived, the man said he wanted them "to shoot" him, Bobo said.

"We believe he wanted to commit suicide and wanted law enforcement officers to do it for him," Bobo said.

Four teenagers were charged with burglary after video clips of them breaking into a home appeared on MySpace.com, sheriff's officials said.

Kayla Rose, 19, of Belfry; Nick Newsome, 19, of Crum, W.Va.; and two juveniles were also charged with criminal mischief. Rose was arrested Monday, and Newsome was arrested Saturday. The juveniles were cited but not taken into custody, Pike County Chief Deputy Melvin Sayers said.

Sheriff's Deputy Bill McCoy said the four broke into an unoccupied home, took several items and broke a door. Video clips of the four inside the house were posted on the Internet, leading to their arrests, McCoy said.
